Jason Edward Mewes (born June 12, 1974) is an Americanactor.

He is also a comedian, movie producer and podcaster. He is best known for playing Jay, the half of the duo Jay and Silent Bob who talks. He plays this role in many of his longtime friend Kevin Smith's movies.

Mewes began his movie career in Smith's 1994 movie Clerks as Jay.^[1] The movie was a success. It caused Mewes to become identified with the role. He also played Jay in Mallrats (1995), Chasing Amy (1997), Dogma (1999), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) and Clerks II (2006).
