An interchurch dispute around a local clergyman is growing uglier as a Texas minister, previously sued by Bishop Dwight Reed of Des Moines, has filed his own suit against Reed and his congregation.

Christ Apostolic Temple in Des Moines and Reed, its leader and the son of the church's founder, attracted controversy in 2021 after the then-63-year-old, thrice-divorced Reed married a 19-year-old congregant whom he had counseled as pastor and, reportedly, as dean of the church school.
